With the enthusiasm for Chinese enterprises to "go global" on the rise, the exhibition industry is also embracing a new wave of "going overseas."
Recently, Global Expo and Alibaba International signed a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly develop overseas exhibition cooperation. The two parties plan to build an overseas exhibition business platform to serve enterprises in their high-quality "going global" efforts and work together with exhibition organizations and professional exhibition companies to build a vertical exhibition participation registration entrance for foreign trade enterprises.
Both parties will rely on Alibaba Group's global network advantages and its vast membership advantages in international trade to empower organizers of exhibitions held abroad, providing support for exhibitions from multiple dimensions such as market promotion, ground travel, and the invitation of exhibitors and professional buyers.
The person in charge of Global Expo, Lu Cheng, said that under the current situation where there are few overseas exhibition projects led by Chinese exhibition companies, and the exhibition themes are single and mostly comprehensive, it is the necessary path for China's exhibition industry to move from a major exhibition country to a strong one for brand exhibitions and exhibition organizations to "go global."
He also said that in addition to the conventional European and American market exhibitions, the overseas exhibition projects of both parties will focus on the layout of "Belt and Road" countries and regions along with BRICS countries, helping enterprises to explore more business opportunities in emerging markets.
Global Expo, established in 2004, is an excellent service organization in China's business field. Its predecessor was the operation organization of the "International Exhibition Weekly" of the Ministry of Commerce's International Business News. It has now developed into a media platform in the field of service trade. Global Expo has more than 500,000 users (fans) across the network, with rich exhibition industry resources and exhibition hosting experience. It is the organizer of several exhibition activities such as the Global Cross-Border E-Commerce Conference, the Global Internet Economy Conference, and the China Rural E-Commerce Supply Chain Expo, and has experience in serving several national brand exhibition projects.
It is worth mentioning that Global Expo planned and held two "New Ideas for Overseas Exhibitions" seminars in Beijing in 2006 and 2007. At that time, the meeting pointed out that although China's exhibition industry has developed rapidly in recent years, in terms of going abroad for exhibitions, China's exhibition industry has not truly "gone global," mainly focusing on acting as agents for overseas exhibition projects and organizing enterprises to participate in exhibitions.
Yao Wang, Vice Chairman of the Western Returned Scholars Association and former director of the Boao Forum for Asia, said at the seminar: The exhibition industry is an important bridge and booster for China to implement the "going global" strategy. Encouraging the expansion of the scale and quantity of Chinese enterprises' "overseas exhibitions," accelerating the internationalization of China's exhibitions, is an indispensable important means to enhance the international image, expand the space for cooperation, strengthen the international network, explore the international market, and achieve a win-win situation between China and the world.
The cooperation between Global Expo and Alibaba International not only brings new ideas and models for Chinese exhibition companies to expand into the international market but also effectively helps Chinese exhibition companies and exhibition brands to "go global," promoting the high-quality and international development of the exhibition industry.
