The 7th Hongqiao International Economic Forum (hereinafter referred to as "Hongqiao Forum") is scheduled to be held from November 5th to 10th, 2024, at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). According to the information from the media briefing of the "Global Openness Report 2024" held on October 31st at the Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of Commerce, this edition of the forum will release the "Global Openness Report 2024" and the Global Openness Index, as well as host related seminars.

The "Global Openness Report" is the flagship report of the Hongqiao Forum, jointly compiled by the Institute of World Economics and Politics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Hongqiao Forum Research Center, and has been released annually since its debut in 2021.

Cui Weijie, the person in charge of the Hongqiao Forum Research Center, disclosed that the "Global Openness Report 2024" includes three main parts: global openness trends, hot topics, and successful cases. The first part focuses on global openness trends and adds the results of a global survey on the openness situation. The second part discusses hot topics in global openness, covering the rise of the Global South, the multilateral trade system, digital and green cooperation, changes in global value chains, productivity development, and the opening of the service industry. The third part showcases China's practices and achievements in global cooperation through cases such as the China International Import Expo.

Zhang Yuyan from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences pointed out that the "Global Openness Report 2024" has the following new features compared to last year:

1. More accurate and timely index measurement. The research team has made predictions for the latest annual Global Openness Index and corrected the estimated values for the previous year's index based on the latest data, improving the scientific and accurate measurement.

2. Innovation in research tools, with the addition of a global questionnaire survey. From August to September, the team conducted a global questionnaire survey among hundreds of world-class scholars, heads of international organizations, and business leaders, collecting their views and suggestions on the global openness situation, which will be included in the report.

3. A clearer grasp of openness hotspots and patterns. The report promptly focuses on new issues in the field of global openness and tracks the latest developments in rapidly changing topics such as digital and green cooperation and the evolution of global value chains.

4. China's contribution and philosophy in global cooperation are more prominent. The report deeply analyzes China's role in global cooperation, demonstrates China's successful experiences in opening cooperation, and shows China's firm belief in opening up, diverse platforms for openness, and strong measures for opening up.
