In the spring of 2025, the construction of the China Pavilion for the World Expo in Osaka, Japan, officially commenced.
By the end of summer, the underground structural engineering of the China Pavilion had been successfully completed, and the steel structure installation work above ground had also smoothly begun.
On July 31st, the main structure of the China Pavilion was successfully topped out, becoming the first large-scale self-built pavilion project to complete this engineering task among overseas pavilions.
As the Osaka World Expo approaches, the construction progress of the China Pavilion has attracted widespread attention. The main steel structure of the pavilion weighs approximately 1116 tons, and all components were produced, pre-assembled, and pre-constructed in China before being transported to the Osaka Expo Park for installation.
Zhao Ping, a spokesperson for the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), stated at a press conference: "The construction of the China Pavilion is a concentrated display of the new productive forces in China's construction industry. It showcases our country's leading concepts and technologies in various construction fields, such as the use of reversible assembly design, which can be vividly described as 'Heaven and Earth Great Shift'."
The theme of the China Pavilion at the Osaka World Expo is "Building a Community of Life for Man and Nature - A Future Society of Green Development," aiming to promote cultural exchanges and activities to foster cultural exchanges, friendship, and mutual understanding between China and countries around the world. This theme not only reflects China's emphasis on global environmental governance and sustainable development but also demonstrates China's aspirations and efforts to build a community of shared future for mankind with countries around the world, leaving a clean and beautiful world for future generations.
The China Pavilion is located on Plot A7 in the International Exhibition Area of the Osaka Expo Park, covering an area of about 3500 square meters. The building, with the design concept of "Chinese Book Scroll," deeply embodies the connotation of green development, showcasing the profoundness of Chinese culture and the concept of harmonious coexistence between man and nature to the world.
The exterior design of the China Pavilion was completed by the China Architecture Design & Research Group, drawing inspiration from the traditional Chinese book scroll, integrating elements such as bamboo, Chinese characters, and scrolls. With its bamboo-yellow exterior and smooth form, it allows visitors to immediately feel the strong Chinese style and cultural atmosphere. This design not only showcases the Chinese cultural spirit of "following the natural law and the unity of heaven and man" but also interprets China's core philosophy of steadfastly pursuing a path of green development in the new era.
In the future, when visitors enter the exhibition hall, they will experience the continuation of the book scroll theme and its organic combination with modern exhibition architecture; the progressive layers of the exhibition hall symbolize the development of civilization, allowing visitors to deeply feel the long history and depth of Chinese culture during their visit. At the same time, the clever combination of enclosed column-free exhibition halls with natural lighting not only facilitates exhibition setup but also creates a wonderful experience of interaction between man and nature during the visit, echoing the theme of harmonious coexistence between man and nature.
According to the CCPIT, since the China Pavilion is one of the larger foreign self-built pavilions at the 2025 Osaka World Expo and the first large-scale self-built pavilion to start construction, it faces an urgent schedule and heavy tasks. The project team comprehensively coordinates engineering design, project management, and engineering supervision, adopting reversible assembly design and digital intelligent management, efficiently coordinating with Japanese design and construction parties to solve problems together, and fully promoting the construction of the China Pavilion in strict accordance with Japanese standards.
The construction and display of the China Pavilion at the Osaka World Expo will become an important window for Chinese culture to reach the world and an important platform for China to conduct cultural exchanges, enhance mutual understanding, and friendship with countries around the world. Through this platform, China will showcase its achievements and philosophies in green development, cultural heritage, and innovation to the world. This building will become a beautiful landscape at the Osaka World Expo and an important bridge for China to conduct cultural exchanges and cooperation with countries around the world.
